Give Good

IMG_3242

My series of crazy ideas may be over, but I haven’t run out of ideas, crazy or otherwise. One of my crazy ideas over the years has been to live generously. So as announced, I am giving away a few of my last remaining “vintage” copies of my little book.

Drum roll please . . . I have decided that instead of a random drawing, I would like each of the lovely ladies who left a comment on my last blog post to have a copy. That means Dawn, Juanita, Julia and Sylvia…you win! Send me an email at kelrohlf@souldare.com, so I can get the little book into the mail for you!!!

I am so excited this season, as I get ready to launch my little book on createspace.com. I still have to proof it, then I’ll be letting the world know how to get the second edition. In the meantime, I wanted to tell you about a couple online friends, who have embraced their dream, and have self-published books that will be perfect for the holiday season.

Jody Lee Collins, brings us freedom, peace and joy . . . without all the trimmings in her practical and delightful book . . . #LivingtheSeasonWell

“Start small. Start now.” Jody’s resounding call to slow down, count the costs, and savor the Savior warmed my heart, and kindled my desire to observe the traditional church calendar through Advent, Christmas and Epiphany.

Another sweet little book, written by Cecelia Lester, became available earlier this year, and I ordered two copies. So guess what, another giveaway!!! I will be sharing her book in a random drawing next week for anyone who leaves a comment below. Her book covers various topics to ponder how difficulties can “bring rays of joy” into your life. Easy to read, short musings with questions and a space to respond with your pen.

I look forward to hearing what good things are going on with you this season. What does it mean to you to give good?

Announce: To Say (Something) In a Loud or Definite Way {Giveaway Announcement Today!}

See, the former things have taken place,
and new things I declare;
before they spring into being
I announce them to you.
(Isaiah 42:9 NIV)
I couldn’t wait. Last night I put all your lovely names in a bowl, those who commented here and on Facebook for the Giveaway. Our winner is Jennifer P! I will contact her and get her the goods: my book and a collage kit based on my recent souldare class, “YOU ARE HERE”. Enjoy!

As September ends, I am ready for something NEW! Earlier in the summer, I was pondering what I might focus on for The Nester’s challenge: 31 Days Of…

So without further ado, here is my theme:

As autumn gradually leads us to Advent Season, I continue to spend my days with ordinary times. I want to fill these days with quiet reflection and refreshing, new ways to enjoy God’s presence, to listen to His voice and to be filled with His desires.

So I dusted off a little book called 30 Ways to Wake Up Your Quiet Time by Pam Farrel, who graciously gave me permission to use the contents to share with you this month of October. The book is out of print, but you can still find used copies on amazon.

Pam and her husband, Bill Farrel have a vibrant ministry that offers encouragement for marriages. I bought this little book several years back, and found the quiet time suggestions spiced up my relationship with God. As many of you know this girl loves VARIETY!

Won’t you join me for the next 31 days for some quiet and possibly some LOUD times? And some definite ways to know and love God more deeply?

Read here in her own words why she decided to join the blogosphere:

I started Seasons with Soul because I’m on a personal journey toward more intentional living that I’d like to share with you.

While I’m still figuring it all out (and probably always will be), intentional living looks something like this for me:

Choosing to live and love in harmony with God’s will and my life priorities.

Choosing reflective over reactive.

Choosing creative over fastidious.

I’m choosing to live in season. Choosing to do what’s right in this stage, or season, of my life like Ecclesiastes 3:1 says. Choosing to jump in a pile of leaves with my kids, over organizing my basement. Choosing to blow bubbles with my two-year-old over doing dishes.

I’m passionate about seasonal living and celebrating the beauty of God’s world. I talk about my childhood growing up on a small farm in Southeastern Ohio in my first post, back in August, and how each season had its own charm and how we reveled in it. Now, I share my love of nature in each season with my own family. We’re avid cooks, gardeners, hikers, crafters, and photographers, and we can’t wait to share our adventures with you.
